Overview

PTE Exam Centers in Kathmandu Valley — Quick Overview

Kathmandu Valley has the densest PTE network in Nepal. Pearson currently runs 6 official PTE Academic centers across the valley — Alfa Beta Institute (two separate halls in New Baneshwor), Mid-Valley International College (Gyaneshwar), British Professional College (Thapathali), Universal Language & Computer Institute (Dillibazar), and Kathmandu College of Management at Gwarko (Lalitpur). Together they offer the country's widest weekly date pool, including two centers that run all 7 days — Saturday included.

A quick geography note: KCM Gwarko sits in Lalitpur, but it's just across the Bagmati from Maitighar — most students from Patan, Jawalakhel, Kupondole, Satdobato or Imadol consider it part of "Kathmandu" for everyday commuting. So we list it here alongside the five centers inside the Kathmandu metro, treating the whole valley as one PTE catchment area.

PTE Nepal is an authorised Pearson booking partner serving Nepali students since 2019. We don't charge above the official Pearson fee — and we never sell stolen-card vouchers, which is the #1 reason students get permanently banned from PTE.

Two of the six — Alfa Beta's second hall and British Professional College — run on Saturdays, which is critical if you can't take a weekday off work.

1. Alfa Beta Institute — Center 1 (New Baneshwor)

Sun–Fri

Address: Alfa Beta Complex, 1st Floor, New Baneshwor, Buddhanagar, Kathmandu.

Landmark: Opposite Krishna Tower / Ncell / Everest Hotel; next to Indreni Food Land. The complex is a 5-minute walk from the New Baneshwor chowk and reachable from any Ring Road microbus.

This is one of the busiest PTE halls in the country. Slots run from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM most days. Morning slots fill fastest because Nepali students prefer to test early and head home calm — book 2–3 weeks ahead if you want a 7 AM or 8 AM seat.

Check available dates at Alfa Beta 1 →

2. Alfa Beta Institute — Center 2 (New Baneshwor)

All 7 days

Address: 1F, Alfa Beta Complex, New Baneshwor, Bagmati, Kathmandu.

Note: Two separate Pearson-licensed halls within the same Alfa Beta Complex. They share the address but are independent test rooms with their own date calendars on Pearson's availability search — so if Center 1 is full for your date, always check Center 2 before giving up on New Baneshwor.

This is the only center in Kathmandu that runs Saturday slots and is in the busy New Baneshwor cluster — strong combination for students who can't miss weekdays.

3. Mid-Valley International College (Gyaneshwar)

Sun–Fri

Address: Gyaneshwar-30, near Galaxy Public School — about 200 m from Gyaneshwor Park, heading towards Dillibazar.

Landmark: If you're coming from Naxal or Bhatbhateni, take the road past Gyaneshwor temple; the college is on the right just before the Dillibazar turn-off.

Smaller, quieter test hall than the Baneshwor centers — nice option if you find busy waiting rooms stressful. Closes Saturdays, so plan around that.

4. British Professional College (Thapathali)

All 7 days

Address: Trade Tower, 3rd Floor, Thapathali, Kathmandu.

Directions: From Maitighar Mandala, turn left towards Lalitpur — Trade Tower is 50 m ahead on the left side, 3rd floor. The escalator is right at the entrance.

Runs the test 7 days a week, often with up to 6 shifts a day. This is the best center for last-minute booking emergencies — if every other Kathmandu hall is full for the week, BPC usually has a back-up slot.

5. Universal Language & Computer Institute (Dillibazar)

Sun–Fri

Address: 22 Gurans Marg, Dillibazar Height, Kathmandu.

Directions: From Putalisadak intersection, head uphill towards Ganesh temple, then turn right at the Dillibazar Height marker. The institute building is signposted from the corner.

Convenient for students living in Dillibazar, Putalisadak, Naxal, or Maharajgunj — avoids the river-side traffic on test-day morning.

Check available dates at Universal →

6. Kathmandu College of Management (Gwarko, Lalitpur)

Sun–Fri

Address: Kathmandu College of Management (KCM), Gwarko, Lalitpur — opposite B&B Hospital.

Landmark: Just past the Gwarko Chowk on the Lagankhel-Satdobato corridor. Technically in Lalitpur, but inside Kathmandu Valley and a short hop across the Bagmati from Maitighar — most students treat it as a Kathmandu center.

Strong choice for students living in Patan, Jawalakhel, Kupondole, Satdobato, Imadol or anywhere south of the river. Avoids the New Baneshwor / Thapathali traffic on test-day morning.

PTE exam dates in Kathmandu Valley vary by center and month, but with six active halls — two of which run on Saturdays — the valley almost always has something open within the next 7 to 14 days. Decision guide

How to Choose the Best PTE Center in Kathmandu Valley

Before anything else — there is no "best" PTE center in Kathmandu Valley in the way most students think. Pearson runs the same hardware, the same software, the same proctoring rules, and the same AI scoring at every authorised hall. Your score does not depend on which center you walk into. What changes between centers is logistics, not difficulty.

So ignore anyone who tells you "Alfa Beta scores higher" or "BPC is easier." Pick on these four practical filters instead:

1. Proximity — pick the shortest commute

Test-day morning traffic in Kathmandu Valley is unpredictable. The center closest to your home wins by default. New Baneshwor (Alfa Beta 1 & 2) is best for students from Koteshwor, Tinkune, Buddhanagar, Sinamangal. Thapathali (BPC) suits Pulchowk, Lagankhel, Maitighar, Kalimati. Dillibazar (Universal) suits Putalisadak, Naxal, Maharajgunj. Gyaneshwar (Mid-Valley) suits Bhatbhateni, Naxal, Bishalnagar. Gwarko (KCM) is the easiest hop for Patan, Jawalakhel, Satdobato, Kupondole and Imadol.

2. Day of the week

Four of Kathmandu Valley's six centers close on Saturday. If your only free day is Saturday, your real shortlist is just two: Alfa Beta Center 2 (New Baneshwor) and British Professional College (Thapathali).

3. Live slot availability

Alfa Beta and BPC typically have the most frequent open seats because they run more shifts per day. If you have a tight visa deadline, start your search there.

4. Test-environment comfort

Every center provides noise-cancelling headphones, individual computer stations, and an erasable booklet. Mid-Valley, Universal and KCM tend to feel quieter than the Baneshwor halls — useful if busy waiting rooms make you anxious.

Honest summary: All 6 Kathmandu Valley centers are equal on score. Pick the one with the shortest commute on a day you're not rushing. Ask us on WhatsApp if you're torn — we'll check live availability across all 6 in two minutes.
Booking process

How to Book a PTE Test at a Kathmandu Center — Step by Step

The flow is the same regardless of which Kathmandu center you choose. The only thing that changes is which hall you select on the date-picker step.

  1. 1

    Create your myPTE account

Visit pearsonpte.com and register with a valid email and your passport details exactly as printed. Any spelling mismatch later locks the booking. Read our matching-account guide if you accidentally created a duplicate account.

  2. 2

Filter by Kathmandu & pick a center

Set the location to Nepal → Kathmandu (or Lalitpur for KCM Gwarko) and you'll see all 6 valley centers with their next available dates. Morning slots fill fastest. Saturday slots only appear at Alfa Beta Center 2 and BPC.

  3. 3

Share your details with PTE Nepal

WhatsApp us your preferred center, date and time. We confirm the slot is still live, then send a NPR payment link — you don't need a USD-enabled card.

  4. 4

Pay in NPR via eSewa, Khalti, IME or bank

The PTE fee is fixed at USD 248.60 (VAT included). We charge the live NPR equivalent at the day's best market rate. Read the full step-by-step PTE booking guide or grab a discounted booking if available.

  5. 5

    Receive confirmation within 5 minutes

The booking confirmation email arrives with the center address, date, time and your candidate ID. Save it — you'll need to show your passport details match this email on test day.

⚠️ Never book through unauthorised agents. Some sellers in Nepal use stolen credit cards to book PTE — Pearson eventually flags those bookings, and the student account gets a lifetime ban. Read the case study before paying anyone.
Fees

PTE Exam Fee in Kathmandu / Nepal (2026)

The official PTE Academic exam fee is USD 248.60 (VAT included). That figure is set by Pearson globally — it's identical at every Kathmandu Valley center, identical at every Pokhara center, and identical anywhere in the world. What does shift slightly day-to-day is the NPR equivalent, because the USD-to-NPR exchange rate moves every working day.

What to Bring to Your PTE Test in Kathmandu

The rules below are identical at every Kathmandu Valley center — Alfa Beta, Mid-Valley, BPC, Universal and KCM Gwarko. Bring the wrong document and you forfeit the slot.

  • Valid original passport — the same passport you used while booking. This is the only ID Pearson accepts at any Kathmandu center. Citizenship cards, driving licences and national IDs will not work.
  • Arrive 30 minutes early for biometric check-in. Late arrivals are usually refused entry and the fee is non-refundable.
  • No pen, pencil, paper, notes, phone, watch, or earphones in the test room. The center provides an erasable booklet and marker.
  • No food or water at the desk. The new ~2-hour PTE format introduced in August 2025 has no scheduled break.
Reschedule & cancel

Can I Reschedule My PTE Test in Kathmandu?

Yes. Pearson's reschedule rules apply equally at every Kathmandu center. The earlier you reschedule, the smaller the fee. The closer to the test date, the more it costs.

When you rescheduleFee impact
14+ days before test dateFree — full reschedule allowed
7–13 days before test dateReduced fee applies
Less than 7 days beforeFull fee charged again — effectively a new booking

Cancellations follow the same window. If you cancel within the 14-day window, you forfeit part or all of the fee. WhatsApp us before you cancel — sometimes a reschedule to a Kathmandu Saturday slot saves the booking entirely.
