PTE (Pearson Test of English) is a computer-based English language test that is widely used for studying abroad, immigration, and visa purposes. To take the test, individuals are required to create an account on the PTE website and schedule a test date at one of the authorized testing centers. However, in some cases, PTE may restrict a user’s account, which can have serious consequences.
Why Your Account gets Restricted ?
Account restriction is a serious issue that can impact an individual’s ability to take the PTE test or apply for a visa to study or work abroad. There are several reasons why a PTE account may be terminated, including suspected fraudulent activity, violation of PTE’s terms and conditions, or if PTE suspects that the account is being used for cheating purposes.
- If PTE detects irregular activity or suspicious behavior on an account, they may temporarily restrict the account while they investigate the issue. In some cases, the account may be permanently restrict if the account holder engages in serious violations or repeated instances of misconduct.
- One common reason for account restriction is suspected fraudulent activity. This can occur if a user attempts to pay for the test using a fraudulent credit card or if they attempt to cheat during the test. PTE takes fraud very seriously and has several measures in place to detect and prevent fraudulent activity.
The First Step: Finding why your account got restricted!
If your PTE account has been restricted, there could be several reasons for it. The first thing you should do is to try to find out why your account has been restricted. You can contact PTE customer support to get more information about the restriction.
Once you know the reason for the restriction, you can take appropriate actions to resolve the issue. For example, if your account has been restricted because of a payment issue, you can try to make the payment again or contact PTE customer support to resolve the payment issue.
In any case, contacting PTE customer support should be your first step to get more information and help on how to resolve the restriction on your account.

What if you did not book the date but a third party agent did?
If you believe that a third-party agent used a fraudulent card to book your PTE test, you can take legal action against the agent if you have evidence to support your claim.
Here’s a stepwise guide on what to do if your PTE account is terminated due to a third-party agent:
- Inform the agent who booked the test date for you that your account has been restricted.
- Keep a record of all communications with the agent, including call recordings and chat screenshots.
- Request a refund from the agent, asking for an amount around 5k higher than what you paid to cover any processing costs that may arise later.
- If the agent refuses to cooperate or if anything goes wrong, file a police complaint. Many students have reported that their cases were resolved with ease after they contacted the police.
- Once you have received your refund, go check the email that you have received form Pearson regarding account restriction and follow the steps outlined there.
- As you can see there , we need to make the payment again and the card should be issued on your name. For this you need to have a dollar card issued on your name which could make international.
Bonus tips: Go with NMB Bank for Dollar card, the process is fast and they take less charge than others. Also tell your bank to load $220 in your card.
- Also, we need to reply to this mail explaining why this happened and also include a payment receipt you paid to Agent to book your test for you.
No need to worry here we have sample response you can use to reply to this mail.
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to you regarding the recent restriction of my PTE account. I was surprised to learn that my account has been restricted due to a payment made on my behalf by a third party using a fraudulent card without my knowledge.
The person who made the payment on my behalf is Mr. (The Name of the Agent), and his/her phone number is +977********** and his/her email address is ***********@gmail.com.
I have attached the payment receipt for the PTE Exam date booking fee that I paid him for PTE test booking.
I want to make it clear that I was not aware of Mr. (The Name of the Agent)s intentions to use a fraudulent card to make the payment. I only found out about this when I received the notification from your platform regarding the account restriction. I am deeply sorry for any inconvenience that this has caused, and I am committed to resolving the issue as soon as possible.
Therefore, I am requesting your guidance on how I can unban my account. I am willing to make the payment as soon as possible to ensure that my account is reinstated.
Thank you for your understanding, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Your Name
[Don’t forget to attach the screenshot of the payment receipt]
- After you reply to this mail with supporting evidence, they will check and reply to this mail saying that you need to make your payment once again.
- Pearson strictly recommends not to share your payment details mail you need to call to costumer care to provide your Dollar Card details so that the payment could be made.
- After you share your payment details, after a day or two, the account will be unrestricted.
You can call and remind them about your case if it is taking longer then usual.
- Take steps to prevent future fraud: To prevent future fraud, be cautious when working with third-party agents and consider using secure payment methods.
By following these steps, you can effectively handle the situation if your PTE account is terminated due to the actions of a third-party agent.
To summarize, it is better to prevent problems than to try to fix them later. In order to avoid issues during the process of booking a PTE exam date, students should be cautious.
In Nepal, students could not pay Pearson directly (only could use a dollar card to do so), which means there is a higher risk of falling victim to fraudulent third-party agents who may offer cheaper rates for booking a PTE exam slot. These agents often use fraudulent Cards to make payments, which can lead to the student’s PTE account being banned.
